ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team was recently honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with the ITA All-Academic Team honor. In addition, five Wolverines were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
Bjorn Swenson, Mert Oral, Nicholas Steiglehner, Nino Ehrenschneider and Patorn Hanchaikul each claim the distinction of ITA Scholar-Athletes, earning a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher during the 2023-24 academic year.
This is the third time Ehrenschneider has captured the honor, while Hanchaikul and Oral are two-time honorees.
Michigan qualified for the team award by having a team GPA of 3.2 or above on a 4.00 scale. This marks the fifth straight season the team has earned the honor.
It has been a summer of academic honors for the Wolverines following the June 25 announcement of Hanchaikul, Oral and Steiglehner being awarded Big Ten Distinguished Scholar distinction, while Jacob Bickersteth, Ehrenschneider, Hanchaikul, Oral, Steiglehner, Swenson and Gavin Young earned Academic All-Big Ten honors on June 12.
