
Wolverines to Head to West Coast to Take On UCLA

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 16-ranked University of Michigan men's soccer team (5-0-2, 1-0-1 Big Ten) will play in its first road game of 2024 when it travels to Los Angeles, Calif., to take on UCLA (3-2-2, 1-1-0 Big Ten) on Saturday (Sept. 21). Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. PDT, and the match will be streamed live on B1G+.
Notes
• Michigan closed out its seven-game home stretch undefeated with a record of 5-0-2, its longest undefeated run to start a season since 2007. The Wolverines defeated Penn State 2-1 on Friday (Sept. 13) and played to a 1-1 draw with Washington on Monday (Sept. 16).
• The Wolverines rose six spots in the United Soccer Coaches Poll to No. 16, and are the second-highest ranked Big Ten squad in the poll. This marks U-M's highest national ranking since the 2020-21 season, when it checked in at No. 14.
• Michigan has scored first in all seven matches this season and has tallied 11 total goals, which ranks fourth in the Big Ten.
• Beto Soto leads all Wolverines with nine points (two goals, five assists), most recently notching an assist in the draw with Washington. He has tallied at least one point in six consecutive starts and is tied for the lead in the Big Ten in assists per game (0.71).
• Bryce Blevins scored both goals in the triumph over Penn State, one in each half, for his first two tallies of the season. His second marker came on a penalty in the second half, the first goal from the spot this season for the Maize and Blue.
• The Michigan defense has surrendered four goals and has held opposing offenses to under 30 percent shots-on-target. U-M is one of three teams in the conference to allow four goals or fewer. Nolan Miller and Matthew Fisher have contributed on both sides of the pitch as Miller and Fisher have a goal and an assist, respectively.
• Isaiah Goldson ranks third among Big Ten goalkeepers who started at least four matches in goals-against average with 0.60. He is also third in the conference in save percentage, stopping more than 82 percent of shots on target.
• U-M will face UCLA for the first time in program history. This season, the Bruins own an overall record of 3-2-2 with a conference mark of 1-1-0. UCLA opened Big Ten play with a 1-0 win over Northwestern before falling to Wisconsin 4-1. The Bruins are receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Poll.
• Following Saturday's game, U-M will head to Piscataway, N.J., for a matchup with Rutgers on Saturday, Sept. 28.
