
Wolverines Elevate Raggi, Rane to Coaching Staff

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan rowing program announced Thursday (Sept. 5) the promotions of coaches Francesca Raggi and Rachel Rane ahead of the 2024-25 season.
"Fran and Rachel have been tremendous assets to our program already, and we are very excited to have them take on these new roles at Michigan," said head coach Mark Rothstein.
"Both are decorated athletes who connect with our student-athletes and know how to get the most speed out of the boats they are working with. We know they will continue to make Michigan rowing better."
Raggi is in her second year at U-M after serving as an assistant coach for the 2023-24 campaign.
Rane joined in the spring of 2024 as a volunteer assistant. Both athletes were All-Americans and national champions at Texas. Raggi was named 2022 CRCA Athlete of the Year, a two-time first team All-American (2021, '22) and a 2019 CRCA second-team All-American.
Raggi helped the Longhorns to two team NCAA Championships and one second-place finish in her three years of competition (2019, '21-22). She was a three-year varsity eight competitor who won two NCAA gold medals and one silver. At the conference level, she helped the Longhorns capture three Big 12 team championships (2019, '21, '22) while rowing in three Big 12 1V8 gold-medal-winning boats. Raggi was the 2022 Big 12 Rower of the Year.
Rane became a two-time first team All-American (2021, '22) and a three-time All-Big 12 honoree (2021-23) for the Longhorns. She helped the Longhorns to two team NCAA Championships in her three years of competition (2021-23). Rane was a three-year varsity eight competitor who won two NCAA gold medals. At the conference level, she helped the Longhorns capture three Big 12 team championships (2021-23) while coxing three Big 12 1V8 gold-medal-winning boats.
