BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The No. 7-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team fell 160-103 to No. 6 Indiana on Friday (Jan. 10) at Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center.
The meet concluded early due to a medical incident on the pool deck.
Rebecca Diaconescu got the Wolverines off to a strong start in the individual events with a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 9:32.96 -- nearly six seconds ahead of the next closest swimmer.
Stephanie Balduccini finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:43.65. Malia Amuan took third with a mark of 1:46.00.
Hannah Bellard came out on top in the 200-yard butterfly, posting an NCAA 'B' standard time of 1:55.31 and finishing more than two seconds ahead of second place.
Lindsay Flynn secured second in the 50 free with a time of 21.89 seconds. Freshman Josie Connelly took third with a mark of 22.55.
After the break, Flynn posted a time of 47.83 to finish second in the 100-yard freestyle, while Balduccini clocked a 48.05 to capture third overall.
Letitia Sim finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:11.77, a new season-best mark. Ella Jo Piersma took second in the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 53.80.
In diving, Kiarra Milligan registered a score of 313.05 on the one-meter springboard to finish second. Chrismon Clark scored 320.33 to take third in the three-meter dive.
Michigan will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 18 when it hosts rival No. 13-ranked Ohio State for a dual meet at noon inside Canham Natatorium. The meet will be streamed live on B1G+.
