Goldin, Donaldson Shine as Michigan Tops No. 22 UCLA to Complete West Coast Sweep

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The No. 24-ranked University of Michigan men's basketball team (12-3; 4-0 B1G) defeated No. 22 UCLA (11-4; 2-2 B1G), 94-75, on Tuesday (Jan. 7) at Pauley Pavilion.
Leaders and Best
Vladislav Goldin led all scorers with a career-high 36 points, adding seven rebounds. Tre Donaldson set career highs with 20 points, six three-pointers, and tied his career-best with seven assists. Nimari Burnett chipped in 15 points, connecting on 3-of-4 shots from behind the arc, and Danny Wolf added 12 points and eight rebounds.
Turning Point
With Goldin and Wolf both on the bench with four fouls each, Donaldson provided some key minutes for Michigan, hitting two crucial three-pointers to give the Wolverines a 76-64 lead with seven minutes left.
Second Half
Michigan's 47-37 halftime lead was erased early in the second half, as UCLA opened the frame on a 17-4 run, taking its first lead of the game, 52-51, with 14:12 to play. The Bruins' lead grew to four points (55-51) before Donaldson caught fire from long range, sparking a 19-6 Michigan run over the next five minutes. Donaldson had nine points during the stretch, with Goldin and Burnett each adding five as Michigan took a 12-point lead (76-64) with 7:23 remaining.
UCLA got no closer than a nine-point deficit the rest of the way, as Michigan held the Bruins to just 2-of-11 field goals leading into the final media timeout. Meanwhile, Michigan stayed hot, shooting 6-for-8 from the field and closing the game on a 10-4 run to seal the lopsided 94-75 victory.
First Half
Michigan jumped out to an early 13-2 lead in the first four and a half minutes, as UCLA suffered a nearly four-minute scoring drought heading into the first media timeout. UCLA quickly responded with a 6-0 run in under a minute, but two baskets from Goldin prompted a UCLA timeout with Michigan leading 25-13.
With 7:52 to play in the half, Goldin was outscoring the Bruins by himself, with 17 points to UCLA's 15 as Michigan held a 28-15 advantage. U-M later used a 8-0 run in just over a minute, prompting another UCLA timeout, to take their largest lead of the game thus far, 37-19. UCLA ended the frame on a 10-2 run, but Michigan led 47-37 at the break.
Michigan's 11 first-half turnovers allowed UCLA to hang around, and the Bruins closed the half converting six of their last eight field goal attempts. For the half, Michigan shot 62 percent from behind the arc, while the Bruins went 0-for-8.
What's Next
Michigan will return home to Ann Arbor to host Washington in conference action on Sunday (Jan. 12). The game will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network, with tip-off slated for 2 p.m.

• Michigan's 15 three-pointers are the most UCLA has given up so far this season.
• Donaldson's new career high of 20 points surpassed his 18-point performance against Iowa (Dec. 7) earlier this season.
• Donaldson's seven assists had been achieved twice previously, most recently against Cleveland State (Nov. 4).
• Donaldson notched his second consecutive game with four or more three-pointers and fourth in a row with two or more.
