ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team (5-7-3, 2-3-3 Big Ten) will head east to play its final two road games, beginning with Maryland (6-9-0, 2-6-0 Big Ten) at 7 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 16) at Ludwig Field. The fixture will be streamed live on B1G+.
Notes
• Michigan has a better winning percentage (.889) against Maryland than all other current teams in the Big Ten with an 8-1 record all-time. Head coach Jennifer Klein is 5-1 against the Terps but just 1-1 on the road.
• Kali Burrell was the hero for U-M the last time out with two second-half goals that erased a late deficit and saved a 2-2 draw against Indiana at U-M Soccer Stadium. The two-goal outing was Burrell's first career brace.
• With three matches remaining in the regular season, Michigan ranks 11th in the Big Ten standings with nine league points. Ten teams qualify for the Big Ten Tournament, and nine teams are within one game of the Wolverines in the standings. USC, in seventh place, has 12 points and Maryland, in 16th, boasts six.
• The U-M defense has been stout in conference play, conceding just eight goals since Sept. 12, the fifth lowest in the conference. The Michigan backline has allowed more than six shots on target once in Big Ten play, and limited No. 18 Michigan State and Indiana to season lows in shots with eight each.
• Two-time Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week Sophie Homan ranks seventh in the conference with 52 saves. She has faced the second-most shots among all Big Ten keepers (183) and sports the sixth-lowest goals-against average in conference play (1.00).
• Maryland enters Thursday night's fixture on a five-game Big Ten skid, but all six of its wins this season have come at Ludwig Field. The Terps have the most conceded goals in the conference (23) and have not scored more than one goal in their past five outings.
• Michigan wraps up road slate at Rutgers on Sunday (Oct. 19) at 1 p.m. before returning home to close the regular season against Illinois at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26, at U-M Soccer Stadium.
