
Wolverines Stay Unbeaten With Wins Over Northwestern, No. 22 UCLA

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving program picked up another two wins on Saturday (Oct. 25), defeating Big Ten foes Northwestern 205-92 and UCLA 193-103 at Canham Natatorium. With the victories, the Wolverines improved to 4-0 on the season, with three of those wins coming in conference.
The Wolverines started the meet strong, with the 400-yard medley relay team of Bella Sims, Letitia Sim, Brady Kendall and Stephanie Balduccini setting a Michigan record with a time of 3:26.82.
The Maize and Blue continued its winning ways to open the individual section of the meet, as Rebecca Diaconescu picked up a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:40.72, and Sims came out on top with a time of 1:41.43 in the 200 free.
Later on, both Sims and Diaconescu added their second wins in the individual events, with Sims finishing with a 1:51.26 in the 200-yard backstroke, and Diaconescu winning the 500 free with a time of 4:45.32.
Sim ended the meet with three total wins, adding victories in the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes with times of 58.58 seconds and 2:08.02, respectively.
Hannah Bellard won two individual events of her own, putting up a time of 1:54.07 in the 200-yard butterfly and closing out the individual events with a win in the 400-yard IM, posting a time of 4:07.88.
In the 50 free, Kendall picked up another victory for the Maize and Blue with a time of 21.74.
Balduccini picked up her first individual win of the meet in the 100 free with a time of 48.20.
Leila Fack added a victory in the 100 fly with a time of 52.22 in the first heat of the race.
Michigan closed out the meet with one final victory. Balduccini, Kendall, Fack, and Ella Jo Piersma combined for a time of 1:28.61 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Up next, the Wolverines will host Oakland and Pittsburgh at Canham Natatorium on Friday, Nov. 7, at 3 p.m.
