Swenson, Dahlin Qualify for NCAA Doubles Tournament at ITA Sectionals

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Max Dahlin and Bjorn Swenson of the University of Michigan men's tennis team qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championship on Saturday (Nov. 8) while competing at the ITA Sectional Championships at the Varsity Tennis Center.
The pair, playing together for the first time, won all three of its matches as the Wolverines hosted the tournament. They dispatched Evan Burnett and Jonah Braswell (Texas) on Thursday (Nov. 6) and Kholowan Monti and Alexander Frusina (Texas A&M) on Friday (Nov. 7) by matching 6-2, 6-3 scores. In Saturday's semifinal, the pair topped Peter Nad and Luis Llorens Saracho (Notre Dame) 7-5, 6-4.
This is the first time either has qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championship. Dahlin qualified for his first NCAA Singles Championship last month at ITA Regionals.
Swenson also picked up a 6-4, 6-4 singles win over Ben Weintraub (Arkansas), while Dahlin defeated Luc Koenig (Baylor) 6-2, 6-2.
Mert Oral and Nicholas Steiglehner also earned singles victories and played three doubles matches as a pair.
The NCAA Individual Championships begin Tuesday, Nov. 18, and run through Sunday, Nov. 23, in Orlando, Fla.
