Michigan to Face Off With No. 3 MSU in Home-and-Home to Conclude Calendar Year

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 1-ranked University of Michigan ice hockey team (15-3, 6-2 Big Ten) faces off against in-state rival No. 3 Michigan State (11-3, 4-3 Big Ten) in a home-and-home series to cap off the 2025 calendar year. The teams open play in East Lansing on Friday (Dec. 5) at 8:30 p.m. inside Munn Ice Arena and end the series at 7 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 6) at Yost Ice Arena. Friday's game will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network, and Saturday's game will be streamed live on B1G+.

• Michigan is coming off a road sweep of Harvard in its final non-conference games of the season. The Wolverines took a 5-1 game on Friday (Nov. 28) and won 4-3 in overtime on Saturday (Nov. 29). The Wolverines finished the non-conference slate with a 9-1 record.
• The Wolverines remain the No. 1-ranked team in the nation with a 15-3 overall record and sit in first place in the Big Ten standings, along with Wisconsin, with a 6-2 mark.
• MSU is in fourth place in the Big Ten standings with a 4-2 record and 12 points after six games. Overall, the squad is 11-3 and ranked No. 3 in the nation.
• Michigan claimed two of this week's Big Ten Three Stars of the Week, with Will Horcoff earning First Star and Michael Hage, Third Star. Horcoff had a four-goal, five-point weekend at Harvard that included netting both game-winning goals. Hage led the team in total points with six, scoring two goals and adding three assists.
• Four players lead the nation in points with 26, with three of them being Wolverines. Horcoff, Hage and T.J. Hughes each have 26 points -- along with Max Plante of Minnesota Duluth. Horcoff leads the nation in goals with 18, while Hughes' 17 assists are the nation's best.
• Four Wolverines have been named to the USA Hockey preliminary roster: Horcoff, Cole McKinney, Dakoda Rhéaume-Mullen and Asher Barnett; four is the most of any team in the nation. Team Canada is slated to make its team announcement on Monday (Dec. 8). The World Juniors Championship gets underway on Dec. 26.
• Jack Ivankovic leads the nation's netminders in wins with 15 to his credit. He boasts a .922 save percentage and a 2.00 goals-against average. He ranks third nationally in quality starts with 13.
• Michigan's power-play unit is converting at 30.7 percent (23-for-75) to rank fourth nationally. The penalty kill is 19th at 83.3 percent, and has scored seven shorthanded goals. MSU's power play is at 25 percent and the penalty kill is at 82.5 percent.
• Michigan is averaging 5.11 goals per game compared to MSU's 3.64 -- with 10 teams separating the two in-state rivals. Both teams rank in the top five nationally in slot shots (20.0 to 19.2) and in high-danger chances (15.4 to 14.1). The Wolverines are also tops in cycle chances and forecheck chances and second nationally in offensive-zone possession.
