
Mosley Posts Top-10 Time in Collegiate Debut at Season-Opening Blue and Gold Invite

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team opened its season on Friday (Dec. 5) at the Blue and Gold Invitational at the Loftus Sports Center, with a pair of first-place finishers and one of them posting a top-10 time in the process.
In his collegiate debut, Malachi Mosley earned a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.45 seconds, which comes in at No. 10 on the program performer's list. Caleb Root and Brayden Kennedy also made their debuts, finishing seventh (49.63) and ninth (50.04), respectively.
Riley Flemington took first place in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:13.40, while sophomore Marcus Reilly placed third in the 1,000-meter (2:25.52). In the 60-meter dash, transfer Jake Machiniak tied his personal best of 6.83 to finish third. The time is just 0.05 seconds shy of the No. 10 time on the program performers list.
Another contingent of U-M runners will compete on Saturday (Dec. 6) at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, beginning at 12:20 p.m. inside the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
