
U-M to Send Seven Swimmers to NCAA Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Seven student-athletes from the No. 10-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team have been selected to compete at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, beginning Wednesday (March 12).
Colin Geer and Tyler Ray lead all Michigan swimmers with three event qualifications each. Geer will compete in the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly, as well as the 200-yard IM. At the Big Ten Championships, Geer won gold in the 200 fly with a time of 1:39.58, which ranks seventh in the nation.
Ray will head to Federal Way, Wash., to compete in the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly events alongside Geer, as well as the 50-yard freestyle. He broke the school record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 44.28, which is also ranked seventh nationally.
All-American Gal Groumi returns to the NCAA Championships to race in the 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard IM. The senior reached the A-final in the 200-yard IM in 2024, finishing fifth with a time of 1:39.87.
Rounding out the roster are Jon Jøntvedt, Ozan Kalafat, Eduardo Moraes, and Lorne Wigginton. Jøntvedt is set to make his NCAA Championships debut in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Kalafat earned his spot in the 100-yard breaststroke, while Moraes will race in the 500-yard freestyle. Wigginton will compete in the 400-yard IM in his first season as a Wolverine.
The NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships will begin on March 26 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
