TAMPA, Fla. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team opened up the outdoor season with the first day of the USF Alumni Invitational on Friday (March 21) in Tampa, Fla.
Eli Winter finished third in the hammer throw with a mark of 63.89m (209-7), while Zane Forist (17.71m, 58-1.25) and Aiden Felty (17.26m, 56-7.5) finished fourth and ninth, respectively, in the shot put. Forist's mark was just 0.08m shy of his personal best.
A trio of Wolverines finished in the top 10 of the long jump, with John McNeil (7.52m, 24-8.25) placing fourth, Jake Wall (7.49m, 24-7) placing fifth, and Tianhao Wei (7.30m, 23-11.5) placing eighth. Wei saw a personal-best mark.
Liam Kinney and Cole Sheldon both cleared 4.86m (15-11.25), with Sheldon finishing 17th and Kinney finishing 21st.
In the 800-meter run, Brendan Herger finished second with a time of 1:49.38 while Camden Law finished third with a personal-best time of 1:49.39.
The Wolverines will conclude the two-day meet on Saturday (March 22) starting at 11 a.m. with the high jump.
