Notes
• The Wolverines rank No. 10 nationally in the latest edition on the IWLCA Coaches Poll (March 24) after defeating then-No. 21 USC at home last week. Michigan will take on its fifth ranked opponent in No. 21 Ohio State.
• Michigan ranks sixth nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 8.67 goals per game. The backline has forced 122 turnovers, with Grace Callahan ranking ninth in the conference with 13 caused turnovers.
• With her four points against USC, senior Julia Schwabe became just the ninth Wolverine to record 100 career points, joining teammates Jill Smith and Kaylee Dyer. This season, Schwabe has 14 goals and nine assists for U-M and is just six goals away from tying her season-best 20 goals in 2024.
• Smith needs three points to tie the Michigan career-points record. The Farmington Hills, Mich., native has 162 goals and 38 assists and would tie Caitlin Muir with 203. The senior attacker is the second Wolverine in program history to record 200 career points while holding the U-M career goals and points marks. Smith also has 148 draw-control victories, which ranks her fourth all-time in Michigan annals. Smith leads the Wolverines with 25 goals and 12 assists and ranks eighth in the Big Ten with 37 total points, and is ninth with 30 draw-control wins.
• Senior goalie Erin O'Grady is five career wins away from breaking the Michigan career wins record held by Mira Shane, who had 24. O'Grady is the second U-M goalie to win 20 games and owns the Michigan single-season wins record with 14 in 2024. The Massapequa, N.Y., native also ranks third in the U-M record book with 277 career saves. With 23 more, she would become the third goalie to record 300 saves.
• Senior Maya Rutherford is three games away from tying the Michigan career games played record of 70 and is two games away from tying the Michigan career starts record of 69. Rutherford has started all 67 possible games in her career on the backline and has recorded 42 ground balls and 29 caused turnovers in her time on defense. Along with Rutherford, Schwabe is four games away from tying the program record of career games played (70) as she has seen time in 66 games in the last four seasons.
• Freshman Emma Burke has owned the draw control for the Wolverines, ranking sixth in the Big Ten with 61 draw-control wins. Burke's total ranks fourth in single-season program history and 11th in career history, while her 17 wins against Marquette earned her the single-game record. The Glenview, Ill., native has recorded two double-digit draw-control-win outings and has won five or more draws on six occasions.
• Graduate student Ava Class notched her second straight hat trick against USC, including back-to-back goals in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 9-9 and eventually secure the U-M victory. Class recorded her first career hat trick against Maryland, scoring six goals, and had one assist for a career-high seven points. The Hunt Valley, Md., native has six multi-point games in her final season and ranks fourth for the Wolverines with her 21 points.
• Michigan will be back in action Wednesday (April 2) at 5 p.m. when it hosts Eastern Michigan in a midweek non-conference contest at U-M Lacrosse Stadium.
