BATON ROUGE, La. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team closed out its weekend of competition on Saturday (March 29) at the Battle on the Bayou hosted by LSU at Bernie Moore Stadium.
Lawrence Gilliam finished in 23rd place in the 400-meter dash with a personal best time of 47.50 seconds and Nick Butler-Simpson finished 34th with a season-best time of 48.32.
Four Wolverines finished in the top 15 of the 800-meter run, with two finishing in the top 10. Trent McFarland finished eighth with a personal-best time of 1:48.59, just 0.35 seconds shy of the No. 10 time on the program performers list. Miles Brown placed 10th (1:48.73), Camden Law placed 12th (1:48.86) and Brendan Herger placed 15th (1:49.13). Law and Herger both ran personal-best times.
Luke Stowasser and John McNeil cleared 2.05 meters (6 feet, 8.75 inches) in the high jump, with Stowasser finishing seventh and McNeil ninth. The mark was a personal best for Stowasser.
Josh Huisman finished eighth in the shot put with a personal-best 17.87m (58-7.5), coming just 0.4m short of the No. 10 mark on the program performers list. Aiden Felty placed 11th with a season-best mark of 17.28m (56-8.5) while Zane Forist finished just behind him in 12th (17.26m, 56-7.5).
Next up, the Wolverines will head to East Lansing, Mich., for next Friday's (April 4) Spartan Invitational at Ralph Young Field.
