
Michigan Readies for NCAA Regionals at Penn State

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 17-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team (18-9, 6-3 Big Ten) will make its 34th NCAA appearance when it travels to at Penn State's Rec Hall in State College, Pa., Wednesday-Saturday, April 2-5. Michigan will compete in the second session on Thursday (April 3) starting at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
Joining the Wolverines in the second session will be No. 1 LSU, No. 16 Arkansas and the winner of Maryland and West Virginia.
Should the Wolverines finish in the top two of their second-round session, they will advance to the NCAA Regional Final set for Saturday (April 5) at 5 p.m.
Michigan will start on the uneven bars and move to the beam for the second rotation. The Wolverines will then compete on the floor in the third rotation and close out the championships on the vault.
Notes
• The Wolverines enter the NCAA Regional with a NQS (National Qualifying Score) of 196.945 and are ranked in the top 20 on all four events, including ranking 15th on beam, 17th on floor, 18th on uneven bars and 20th on vault.
• This marks the 33rd consecutive year that head coach Bev Plocki has led the Wolverines to a NCAA appearance. They have gone on to advance to the NCAA Championships in 25 of the previous 33 seasons. Prior to Plocki, the Wolverines only competed in the NCAA Championships one time, winning the NCAA Regional and placing 10th overall in 1982.
• Michigan has had at least one individual event winner in 13 of the last 14 regionals as Gabby Wilson won a share of the vault title in the 2024 season. Â
• The Wolverines have competed in the NCAA Regionals three times in State College but will return for the first time since the 2004 campaign, where they finished second to Georgia. U-M won the regional in 2000 and placed second in 2002.
• U-M scored a season-best 197.325 at the Big Ten Championships and saw nine individual career highs on the evening. Sophomore Ava Jordan tied for seventh overall on the uneven bars with a career-high 9.900 with a stuck landing and Ranger came in 10th on the vault with a 9.850. Freshman Sophie Parenti tied two career bests with 9.850s on both uneven bars and beam, while Sophia Diaz stuck her uneven bars landing for a 9.875.
• The Wolverines scored a season-best 49.550 on the floor at the Big Ten Championships with career-best 9.950s from Carly Bauman and Jahzara Ranger to tie for fourth overall. Freshman Peyton Davis notched a career-best 9.900 and Audrey Sanger had a career-best 9.875.
• Four Wolverines were named to the 2025 Big Ten All-Conference teams as announced by the conference office. Bauman earned first-team honors for the second time in her career, while Kayli Boozer, Diaz and Ranger were all named to the second team. Diaz and Ranger were also named to the All-Freshman team.
