
Michigan 4x800m Relay Breaks 39-Year-Old Record at Penn Relays

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team closed out the weekend at a pair of meets on Saturday (April 26), competing at the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet in Allendale, Mich., and the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., where they broke a nearly 40-year-old record.
Penn Relays
The 4x800-meter relay team of Camden Law, Trent McFarland, Henry Johnson, and Brendan Herger ran 7:14.65 to finish third, besting the previous Michigan record of 7:17.85 set in 1986. The Wolverines sat in the lead after the first leg of the race, splitting 1:49.52, and remained in third position until crossing the finish line. U-M finished just 0.70 seconds behind first-place Georgetown.
Riley Flemington, Heath McAllister, Marcus Reilly, and Caleb Jarema represented the Maize and Blue in the 4x1-mile relay, finishing 11th with a time of 16:52.05.
GVSU Extra Weekend Meet
Jacob Koerner finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.01 seconds, while Luke Stowasser cleared 2.00m (6-6.75) in the high jump to finish third. Liam Kinney took second place in the pole vault, clearing 3.91m (16-1.25).
Michigan will begin to wrap up the regular season next weekend, heading to Durham, N.C., for the Duke Twilight on Sunday (May 4) in the first of its final two meets before the Big Ten Championships.
