
Wolverines to Head to Lone Star State for 44 Farms Team Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team will head to College Station, Texas, for the 44 Farms Team Invitational hosted by Texas A&M on Friday and Saturday (April 11-12). Action on Friday will begin with the discus throw at 3 p.m., while Saturday will start at 2 p.m. with the hammer throw.
Notes
• U-M has two weekends of outdoor competition under its belt, competing at the USF Alumni Invitational to open the season before splitting between the Raleigh Relays and the Battle on the Bayou to close out March. Zane Forist was the lone Wolverine to compete at the Spartan Invite last weekend, throwing a personal best 57.73 meters (189-5) for the No. 3 mark on the program performers list.
• The 800-meter run group is ranked No. 6 in the most recent USTFCCCA Event Squad Rankings.
• At the Raleigh Relays, a trio of Wolverines from the distance squad set top-10 program times. Nathan Lopez posted the No. 9 time on the program performers list in the 5,000-meter run (13:50.49), while Luke Venhuizen (28:42.22) and Owen MacKenzie (28:55.43) came in at No. 6 and No. 10, respectively, in the 10,000-meter run.
• In Baton Rouge, La., pole vaulters Liam Kinney and Cole Sheldon both cleared 5.00 meters (16-4.75) to set new personal bests.
• Luke Stowasser and John McNeil also set new personal bests, both clearing 2.05 meters (6-8.75) in the high jump.
• In the shot put, Josh Huisman came just 0.04 meters short of the No. 10 mark on the program performers list with a personal-best 17.87 meters (58-7.5) to finish eighth. Aiden Felty (17.28 meters, 56-8.5) and Forist (17.26 meters, 56-7.5) finished 11th and 12th, respectively. Felty's mark was a season best.
• A pair of runners finished in the top 10 of the 800-meter run, with Trent McFarland's personal-best time of 1:48.59 earning him an eighth-place finish and coming just 0.35 seconds shy of the No. 10 time on the program performers list. Miles Brown finished 10th with a time of 1:48.73.
