ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team lost 8-1 to Indiana on Friday night (May 15) at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium.

Michigan (32-21, 15-14 Big Ten) recorded three total hits, two doubles and a single. Greg Pace Jr. and Keegan O'Hearn tallied the doubles while Benny Casillas singled. Pace scored the lone run on Brayden Jefferis' third-inning sacrifice fly. David Lally Jr. (4-5) struck out three, but allowed five runs and three hits over four innings. Brandon Mann pitched the final 3.1 innings without giving up a run.

Both teams sent just three batters to the plate in the first inning, and Lally pitched another scoreless inning in the second. Jeter Ybarra opened the second with a walk, and O'Hearn tallied a two-out double, but both were left stranded.

Indiana (31-22, 16-13 Big Ten) took the lead in the third on a pair of home runs, a solo blast and a three-run shot, to grab a 4-0 edge. Pace doubled and Casillas singled to lead off the bottom of the inning and put runners at the corners. Jefferis scored Pace on a sacrifice fly, but a double play ended the inning.

Both teams went scoreless in the fourth before IU added another run in the fifth to extend its lead to 5-1. Matt Spear drew a one-out walk in the bottom of the frame, but he went no farther as the inning ended. The Hoosiers added three more runs in the sixth inning on two hits to end the scoring, as the Wolverines could not mount a rally the rest of the way.

Michigan will wrap up the series and the regular-season slate on Saturday (May 17) against Indiana with Senior Day at Ray Fisher Stadium. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., and the game will be streamed live on B1G+.
