ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan swimming and diving head coach Matt Bowe announced the hiring of Brandon Loschiavo as the program's diving coach on Monday (May 19).
"We are thrilled to welcome Brandon Loschiavo as our new head diving coach," said Bowe. "A two-time Olympian with an undeniable passion for diving, Brandon brings incredible energy, expertise and enthusiasm to our program. I'm excited to see him lead Michigan Diving back to success at both the NCAA and Olympic levels. His competitive experience and love for the sport will be a tremendous asset to our student-athletes and the entire Michigan swimming and diving community. Welcome to the team, coach Loschiavo."
As an athlete, Loschiavo enjoyed tremendous success on the collegiate, national and international levels. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native qualified for two Olympic Games in 2020 and 2024, respectively, finishing 11th on the 10-meter platform in 2020. Loschiavo has also competed at four World Championships with his best finish coming in 2024 in the mixed team event when he took fifth overall. "I'm beyond excited to continue to build on the legacy of the Michigan Swim and Dive program," said Loschiavo. "I love the Olympic drive and performance-based culture Matt Bowe is creating, so to be able to help build on top of that incredible foundation is an honor. I'm incredibly excited to see where we can take this program together."
Loschiavo joins the Wolverines after one season as an assistant diving coach at Missouri where he guided two men's and two women's divers to the NCAA Championships. Prior to his time with the Tigers, Loschiavo served as a volunteer assistant coach at his alma mater, Purdue. Before coaching in college, Loschiavo coached at two Los Angeles swim and dive clubs for two years.
Nationally, Loschiavo enjoyed a run of dominance on the platform, capturing five synchronized 10-meter national championships and two individual 10-meter titles at the U.S. Diving Championships.
In college, Loschiavo won Purdue's fourth national championship in diving as a senior in 2021 on the platform. Loschiavo was also recognized with the Big Ten Medal of Honor and as Purdue's male athlete of the year.
Loschiavo graduated from Purdue in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in communications.
