ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's basketball team announced today (Wednesday, June 4) a pair of return games with Wake Forest in the Wolverine-Deacon Challenge and TCU in Fort Worth.
After creating a two-game neutral-site Challenge series with the Demon Deacons that started in Greensboro, N.C., Michigan will host Wake Forest in downtown Detroit at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
A few days later, the Maize and Blue's home-and-home series with TCU concludes with a trip to Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday, Nov. 14, at Schollmaier Arena. It will mark U-M's first game at the Horned Frogs' home arena.
Last season, after 24 years between games, the Wolverines fell 72-70 to the Demon Deacons at Greensboro Coliseum (Nov. 10, 2024). With less than a minute to go and trailing by two, a damp spot on the floor caused a turnover by Roddy Gayle Jr., who slipped and lost the ball, leading to a dunk in transition for Wake Forest.
The teams traded free throws over the final minute, with the Wolverines ultimately falling by two. Gayle led U-M with 11 points, four rebounds and two assists. Michigan's only other meeting with Wake Forest was a 71-60 setback in the 2000 ACC/Big Ten Challenge (Nov. 28) at Crisler Center.
Hosting TCU for the first time in 62 years, the Wolverines earned a 76-64 victory (Nov. 15, 2024) at Crisler Center. Nimari Burnett led with 16 points and six rebounds, while Danny Wolf added 14 points and 14 rebounds. The only other series match-up was an 82-60 Wolverine win at Yost Field House on Dec. 13, 1962.
The Maize and Blue are guided by Dusty May, who in his first season led the Wolverines to a 27-10 record, a Big Ten Tournament title and a sixth straight NCAA Sweet 16 appearance.
