SEATTLE, Wash. -- The No. 8-ranked University of Michigan men's soccer team earned its second conference win of the season by defeating Washington 1-0 on Saturday (Sept. 20) at Husky Soccer Stadium.
Quin Rogers provided the lone score for the Maize and Blue, his team-high third of 2025. Rogers' tally came from the penalty spot, marking the fourth penalty goal for U-M this season.
Isaiah Goldson was solid in the shutout performance, tallying a season-high four saves to lead Michigan (5-0-2, 2-0-0 Big Ten) to its first-ever win over Washington (4-3-2, 1-1-0 Big Ten).
It was an even battle through the first 45 minutes with both sides creating chances on offense, but it was Michigan who found the breakthrough in the final minute of the first half. After Shuma Sasaki was fouled in the penalty box, Rogers stepped to the spot and rolled the ball past the Washington keeper for his second goal from the dot this season and to vault Michigan in front 1-0.
In the second half, Michigan was determined to hold on to the lead as Goldson made three of his four saves in the second stanza. Despite pressure from Washington, the Wolverines stood their ground and shut out the Huskies for the first time at home in 2025.
Michigan will return to Ann Arbor and host Michigan State for a rivalry matchup on Friday (Sept. 26) at 6 p.m. at U-M Soccer Stadium. The match will be streamed live on B1G+.
