COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The No. 11-ranked Michigan men's swimming and diving team fell to No. 16-ranked Ohio State, 167-133, on Saturday (Jan. 17) at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The loss drops the Wolverines to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in Big Ten action this season.
The quartet of Jack Wilkening, Luka Mladenovic, Tyler Ray and Ole Eidam got the rivalry meet off to a strong start with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, posting a mark of 1:23.70.
Lorne Wigginton kicked off the individual portion of the meet with a time of 8:54.01 to win the event and post a new fastest time among Michigan swimmers this season.
Mladenovic continued his impressive freshman season with a triumph in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching the wall at 52.02.
Colin Geer made his presence felt in the 200-yard butterfly with a top time of 1:43.85, nearly two seconds ahead of the second-place swimmer. Eidam added a win in the 100-yard freestyle with a mark of 43.10.
Michigan will be back in action on Jan. 31 when it welcomes Denison to Canham Natatorium for its senior day meet at noon.
