
Michigan to Head to East Lansing for Top 15 Rivalry Showdown

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 9-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (18-3, 9-1 Big Ten) will head to East Lansing for a Sunday matinee (Feb. 1) against No. 13-ranked Michigan State (19-2, 8-2 Big Ten) at the Breslin Center. The game is set for noon and can be seen live on FS1.
Notes
• Michigan and Michigan State are set to square off for the first of two meetings over the next two weeks. It is just the second time in the rivalry that both teams are ranked in the top 25 of the Associated Press poll and the first time that both teams are in the top 15.
• U-M snapped a three-game skid to the Spartans in the last game between the two, recording a 71-61 win at the Breslin Center last season. Both road teams took the win in 2024-25.
• Michigan is 9-1 in Big Ten action this season, currently tied for second with Iowa in the standings. Michigan's 9-1 start in conference play is tied for the best start in program history (2021-22).
• Michigan has won seven straight Big Ten contests after falling at Washington on Jan. 1. It is tied for the second-longest winning streak in conference play for Michigan, coming from Feb. 1, 2019-Feb. 22, 2019. The school record for consecutive Big Ten wins is eight, set from Jan. 9, 2022-Feb. 2, 2022.
• The Spartans are Michigan's fifth ranked opponent of the season. U-M is 2-2 against top-25 teams this season, falling to just No. 1 UConn and No. 5 Vanderbilt by identical scores of 72-69.
• U-M has three Michigan natives on the roster for the in-state rivalry in Macy Brown (East Grand Rapids), Brooke Quarles Daniels (Macomb) and Ally VanTimmeren (Jenison). MSU also has three Michiganders on its roster.
• Michigan and Michigan State enter the contest with similar numbers across the board, with U-M leading the Big Ten in scoring offense at 87.5 points per game and MSU coming in at No. 3 with 86.0 points per game. U-M leads the conference and is 11th nationally in turnovers forced per game (23.8), with MSU ranking 21st nationally and third in the Big Ten at 21.6 per game.
• Michigan picked up a 95-67 win at Indiana on Thursday evening (Jan. 29), its 14th win this season by at least 20 points. U-M is second in the Big Ten in scoring margin at +27.6.
• Michigan has four players scoring in double figures in sophomores Olivia Olson (18.5 ppg), Syla Swords (13.6 ppg), Mila Holloway (12.7 ppg) and Te'Yala Delfosse (10.6 ppg).
