
Maize and Blue to Host Ball State in Saturday Action

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team (3-4) will host Ball State (4-4) at the Varsity Tennis Center on Saturday (Feb. 21). First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m., with the match to be streamed live on MGoBlue.com. Admission is free.
Notes
• Michigan is 3-4 overall after claiming a 4-3 win over Western Michigan last Friday (Feb. 13). The Wolverines have won their last two matches, both by 4-3 decisions.
• Michigan is undefeated in the series against Ball State, at 14-0, with the last meeting a 6-1 decision early in the 2008-09 season.
• The Wolverines are 3-1 against unranked teams and 2-1 when playing on their home court at the Varsity Tennis Center.
• Max Dahlin, ranked No. 8 in singles, is on a four-match win streak in singles play. His longest career win streak is nine games, from the fall season when he reached the NCAA quarterfinals. He boasts a 6-1 record at No. 1 singles and is 15-3 this season.
• Mert Oral is on a three-match win streak at No. 4 singles, just one shy of his personal best. Overall, he is 11-10 in singles this season and 12-9 in his dual singles career.
• Nicholas Steiglehner clinched the victory in Michigan's last outing against Western Michigan, snapping a five-match losing streak that included contests against three ranked opponents. Steiglehner owns the longest career winning streak on the team, having won 11 consecutive matches from March 2024 to October 2024.
• Pierce Shaya and Dahlin are quickly emerging as a doubles pairing, posting a 4-0 record since first teaming up against Harvard on Feb. 1.
• Shaya moved up to play his first match at No. 5 singles and recorded a win versus WMU's Jack Davison in straight sets. Arnav Bhandari also picked up his first win at No. 6 singles with a two-set win over WMU's Dimitri Moriarty.
