
Kinney Ties No. 6 Pole Vault Mark at Silverston Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team set a top-10 program mark at the Silverston Invitational on Friday (Feb. 20) at the U-M Indoor Track Building.
Liam Kinney took first in the pole vault with a personal-best clearance of 5.18 meters (17 feet) to tie the No. 6 mark on the program performers list. Cole Sheldon took second with a mark of 5.05m (16-6.75) to tie his personal best, while Tyler Baker cleared a personal-best 4.45m (14-7.25) and finished fifth.
In his season debut, Corey Royster ran 6.77 seconds in the 60-meter dash preliminary round, just 0.01 seconds shy of his personal best. Amit Rutman posted a 6.80 for a new personal best, only 0.02 seconds from the No. 10 mark on the program performers list. Royster and Rutman finished second (6.78) and fifth (6.87), respectively, in the finals.
Krish Gupta (48.26), Cole Romig (48.40) and Caleb Root (48.93) finished third, fifth, and ninth in the 400-meter dash, respectively. Romig's time was a personal best.
The Wolverines went 1-2-3 in the mile, with Jack Bidwell grabbing first place and a personal-best time of 4:08.09. Heath McAllister (4:09.15) finished second and Akili Parekh (4:10.13) also recorded a personal best to finish third.
Jonathan Miles (1:50.22), Aiden Sullivan (1:51.27) and Marcus Reilly (1:51.67) took the top three spots in the 800-meter run, with Miles posting a season best and Reilly achieving a personal best.
Neil Howard finished sixth in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 13.22m (43-4.5).
The Maize and Blue will close out the regular season at the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 21) at noon, when a distance medley relay squad takes to the track at the Loftus Sports Center in South Bend, Ind.
