
U-M to Close Out Regular Season With Silverston, Alex Wilson Invitationals

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team will conclude the indoor regular season, hosting the Silverston Invitational on Friday (Feb. 20) at the U-M Indoor Track Building, while sending a distance medley relay squad to the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Saturday (Feb. 21) at the Loftus Sports Center in South Bend, Ind. The Silverston Invitational will begin at 3 p.m., and the DMR at the Alex Wilson Invitational is set for noon.

• For the third consecutive week, the Wolverines remain ranked No. 2 in the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region rankings.
• The mile run squad (Trent McFarland, Brendan Herger, Henry Dixon and Riley Flemington) remains No. 5 in the NCAA event squad rankings with an average time of 3:55.54. The 800-meter run event squad (Camden Law, John O'Reilly, Miles Brown and Dixon) is No. 6 in the NCAA with an average time of 1:47.95.
• Michigan returns home following split competition in Boston, Mass., at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational and Indianapolis, Ind., at the Heartland Invitational.
• In Boston, Dixon's personal best of 3:56.81 set the freshman mile run record and secured the No. 7 mark on the program performers list. Herger also posted a personal-best time of 3:54.56 in the mile, moving him to No. 3 on the performers list.
• Law ran 1:47.01 in the 800-meter run to set a new program record.
• McFarland saw a new personal best of 7:50.75 in the 3,000-meter run, earning the No. 2 mark on the program performers list. Luke Venhuizen also posted a personal-best time of 7:58.63.
• Nathan Lopez posted the No. 4 mark on the program performers list with his personal-best of 13:43.93 in the 5,000-meter run, while Caleb Jarema earned a personal-best time of 13:54.74.
• In Indianapolis, Jake Machiniak ran personal bests in the 60-meter dash (6.81 seconds) and in the 200-meter dash (20.99), tying the program record in the 200.
• Will Barhite also ran a personal best in the 200-meter dash (21.61), and Tyler Baker saw a personal-best mark in the shot put of 12.94 meters (42 feet, 5.5 inches).
• The Wolverines will open the postseason from Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 26-28, at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, to be held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.
