
Three Wolverines in Top 20 Guide U-M to Fifth at Louisiana Classics

» With a closing 289 (+1) team total, Michigan posted an 851 (-13) 54-hole total to finish fifth at the Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club. The finish marked U-M's best result in five appearances.
» Leading four Wolverines with sub-par totals, sophomore Dean Muratore paced the Maize and Blue, tying for 12th with a 211 (-5). It marked the fourth time he has led U-M in seven events and his fifth sub-par 54-hole total of the season.
» Freshman Jordan Hwang (70-68-75) and sophomore RJ Arone (69-74-70) helped U-M place three among the top 20 as both tied for 20th with 213 (-3) totals. Sophomore Nilay Naik added a fourth Wolverine under par, tying for 29th with a 214 (-2).

LAFAYETTE, La. -- Led by four Wolverine starters posting under-par 54-hole totals and three finishing among the top 20, the University of Michigan men's golf team recorded an 851 (-13) total to finish fifth at the Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club.
Closing their spring break trip, the Wolverines headed to Lafayette for their fifth appearance at the Louisiana Classics. With an opening 69 (-3) from sophomore RJ Arone and a pair of 70s (-2) from sophomore Dean Muratore and freshman Jordan Hwang, U-M posted a 282 (-6) team total to position itself among the top five.
Heading out for the second round, Hwang fired a 68 (-4) while Muratore and sophomore Nilay Naik carded 69s (-3) to help Michigan post a 280 (-8). The round moved the Wolverines into third place after 36 holes with a 562 (-14) total.
In the final round, Arone shot a 70 (-2) while Muratore and Naik added even-par 72s. Michigan closed with a 289 (+1) to finish with an 851 (-13) tournament total and fifth-place showing.
With his 211 (-5) total, Muratore recorded his fifth sub-par 54-hole total of the season and led U-M for the fourth time in seven events. Hwang and Arone each posted 213 (-3) totals to give the Maize and Blue three among the top 20, tying for 19th.
The Wolverines will head to Myrtle Beach, S.C., to compete in the General James Hackler Championship, Sunday through Tuesday (March 15-17), at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club. U-M returns to the Hackler Championship for the first time in 22 years after finishing 14th in 2004.
