
Wolverines to Open Outdoor Season at UCF

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team will open the outdoor season at the UCF Black & Gold Invitational in Orlando, Fla., at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex on March 20-21. Action on Friday will begin at noon, while Saturday's events are set to start at 11:20 a.m.
Notes
• Michigan tied for 11th with UCLA at the 2025 Big Ten Outdoor Championships, scoring 32 points.
• Josh Huisman finished fifth in the shot put with a personal-best 18.88m, ranking No. 5 on Michigan's program performers list. Aiden Felty also competed in the shot put, finishing 11th with a season-best mark of 18.13m.
• Trent McFarland (3:53.82) and Brendan Herger (3:54.21) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 1,500-meter run, with McFarland just 0.64 seconds behind winner Adam Spencer of Wisconsin.
• A pair of Wolverines set personal-best times in the 5,000-meter run to crack the top 10 of the program performers list, with Nolan Clark ranking No. 6 (13:43.57) and Luke Venhuizen ranking No. 8 (13:48.38).
• Amit Rutman, Krish Gupta, Jacob Koerner and Corey Royster broke a 47-year-old record at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, finishing seventh in the 4x100-meter relay (39.87).
• Seventeen Wolverines represented U-M at the NCAA East Preliminary Round, with three qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
• Huisman punched his ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a 10th-place finish in the shot put (18.95m) at the NCAA East First Round, before finishing 20th (18.33m) at NCAAs.
• Herger and McFarland both advanced to the finals of the 1,500-meter run, where Herger finished ninth (3:47.88) and McFarland finished 11th (3:47.94). Herger was the lone freshman in the field, with just 1.45 seconds separating the first- through 12th-place finishers.
