
Michigan Surges to Fifth on Day Three of NCAA Championships

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The No. 4-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team placed a finalist in every swimming event on Friday (March 20) to regain fifth place with 228 points on the third day of the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the McAuley Aquatic Center.
Bella Sims took her second medal of the week with a silver in the 100-yard backstroke, posting a time of 49.62 seconds. Letitia Sim finished fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a mark of 2:05.85, while Hannah Bellard took seventh in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:35.80. Brady Kendall closed out the individual events with a seventh-place result in the 50-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 21.33.
It was a successful morning for the Maize and Blue as Michigan qualified a swimmer for every individual final across four events. Sims took third in the 100 back, and Sim placed sixth overall in the 200 breast. Bellard and Kendall took seventh and eighth in the 500-yard and 50-yard freestyles, respectively. Kiarra Milligan placed 11th overall in the three-meter dive to score valuable points for the Maize and Blue.
Michigan closed out the third day of competition with the 400-yard medley relay. The team of Sims, Sim, Kendall and Stephanie Balduccini took bronze in the event with a time of 3:24.44.
Michigan will wrap up the NCAA Championships and its season on Saturday (March 21) at McAuley Aquatic Center. Preliminaries are scheduled for 10 a.m., and finals will get underway at 6 p.m.
