
Michigan Runs Past Central Michigan on Record-Breaking Evening

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 8-ranked University of Michigan women's lacrosse team dominated the draw control and tied a single-game program goals record en route to a 23-3 victory over Central Michigan on Friday (March 6) at U-M Lacrosse Stadium.
Sophomore Emma Burke broke her own single-game program record with 22 draw-control wins, surpassing her previous record of 17 against Marquette last season. Burke's 22 wins are also tied for third in NCAA single-game history with Hayley Wagner of Marist (April 27, 2019).
Michigan (4-2) tied its single-game goals mark, matching its previous single-game output of 23 against Detroit Mercy on Feb. 14, 2022.
The Wolverines had 13 goal scorers in the win, as Caroline Byrd, Stella Nolan and Emma Bradbury all recorded hat tricks, while Olivia Perriello, Truus van Wees, Calli Norris and Brynne Grant recorded a pair of goals each. Ava Class added a goal and two assists and Amory Imperatore, Allie Hartman and Isabel DiNanno each had an assist.
Defensively, U-M allowed just eight shots in the entire 60 minutes against the Chippewas (0-6), with just four through the first three quarters.
Michigan scored nine straight goals in the first quarter, including three from Bradbury and a goal and two assists from Class. CMU scored a goal in the final minute of the quarter as the Wolverines took a 9-1 lead after the first 15 minutes.
U-M opened the second quarter with a five-goal run, with two from Byrd and one each from van Wees, Norris and a free position goal, as Michigan took a comfortable 14-1 lead into the halftime break.
Burke dominated the draw control in the first half with 14 wins, while Bradbury and Byrd both notched hat tricks in the first 30 minutes.
Nolan opened the third quarter with a free-position goal and followed it up with her second of the day off a pass from DiNanno. Michigan closed out the third quarter with three straight goals, one from Lee Kestner, Emerson Pattillo and Grant to carry a 19-2 advantage into the final 15 minutes.
Michigan outscored the Chippewas 4-1 in the final quarter, including back-to-back goals from Perriello, and the Wolverines cruised to victory.
U-M will close out its weekend slate at 1 p.m. on Sunday (March 8) when it hosts No. 14 Colorado on Alumni Weekend at U-M Lacrosse Stadium. The game will be streamed live on B1G+.
