
Wolverines Strong on Day Two of Spec Towns Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team continued competition at the Spec Towns Invitational on Friday (April 10) at Spec Towns Track.
Chiamaka Odenigbo opened the meet for the Wolverines on Thursday in the heptathlon, clearing 1.65 meters (5-5) in the high jump before withdrawing from the meet.
Payton Smith led a contingent of Wolverines in the 200-meter dash, finishing 14th (23.72). Keyanna O'Tey placed 16th (23.76), Alyssa Bean finished 21st (24.08), and Myla Wilkes placed 23rd (24.17).
The Wolverines went 1-2-3 and claimed seven of the top 10 spots in the 1,500-meter run. Brooke Johnston won with a time of 4:27.20, while Anjali Hocker Singh finished second (4:30.35), Alyna Lewis placed third (4:30.87), Jadyn Zdanavage finished fifth (4:31.45), Lisa Luecke placed sixth (4:33.30), Elena Figueroa finished seventh (4:33.53), and Mara Longenecker placed eighth (4:37.74). Johnston, Luecke, and Figueroa each recorded personal-best times.
Amare Harlan finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.16 meters (20-2.5) to tie her personal best. Kourtney Rathke placed seventh with a mark of 6.01 meters (19-8.75), and Maya Anderson finished eighth at 5.91 meters (19-4.75).
Kourtney Rathke also cleared 4.01 meters (13-1.75) in the pole vault to place sixth, while Iliana Downing finished just behind her in seventh with a mark of 3.91 meters (12-10).
In the hammer throw, Janey Campbell recorded a personal-best mark of 45.68 meters (149-10) to finish 13th.
Michigan will close out the weekend with day three of the Spec Towns Invitational on Saturday (April 11), beginning with the 100-meter hurdles preliminary round at 1:15 p.m.
