ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan softball team (27-17, 7-10 Big Ten) will close out the home portion of its 2026 schedule with four games this week at the Wilpon Complex, home of Hutchins Stadium and Alumni Field. U-M will host Toledo (13-30) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday (April 21) for its final non-conference contest before welcoming Indiana (34-12, 12-6 Big Ten) for a three-game weekend set. Michigan and IU will square off at 6 p.m. on Friday (April 24), 2 p.m. on Saturday (April 25) and 1 p.m. on Sunday (April 26). All four games will be streamed on B1G+.
Notes
• Michigan will honor its six-member senior class -- Maddie Erickson, Avery Fantucci, Janelle Ilacqua, Indiana Langford, Madi Ramey, Lilly Vallimont -- prior to Sunday's game against Indiana. The group contributed to 136 wins and a pair of Big Ten Tournament titles over the last four seasons.
• The Wolverines own a 26-12 advantage in the all-time series against Toledo since 1982 and have won each of the last 12 meetings. Michigan also leads the all-time series against Indiana by a 97-32 margin and has won the last four meetings -- all in 2024, including a 3-1 decision in the Big Ten Tournament championship game.
• Michigan saw its streak of three straight Big Ten Conference series wins halted at Wisconsin last weekend. The teams split the first two games before the Badgers used a three-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh to claim a 14-12 win in the rubber match on Sunday (April 19). The game featured four lead changes; the Wolverines had retook a one-run lead in the top of the seventh after leading by six runs midway through the fifth inning.
• The Wolverines had done the same thing to Ohio State the previous weekend (April 10) with its first walk-off win of the season in a 10-8 series opener. OSU scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take a late 8-7 lead, but Michigan answered in the home half with junior outfielder Jenissa Conway's walk-off three-run homer. Conway, who had been held hitless to that point, blasted a first-pitch no-doubter into the rightfield grandstand for her 12th home run of the season and third in as many games.
• Sophomore outfielder Lauren Putz ranks among the nation's leaders in several offensive categories, listing sixth in RBI per game (1.53), 11th in slugging percentage (.977), 18th in on-base percentage (.565), and 28th with her .474 batting average -- a 61-point improvement on her rookie season average. Putz also ranks 28th with .80 walks per game; she was walked four times in the Wisconsin series.
• Senior Indiana Langford has successfully reached base in all 29 games since returning to the Wolverines' lineup at the start of the Wolverines' spring break trip after her early-season finger injury. Langford ranks third on the team with a .360 batting average and second with a .484 on-base percentage from the leadoff spot. She also lists 20th nationally with 1.28 runs per game.
• Junior outfielder Ella Stephenson has batted .417 (20-for-48) over the last 15 games, ranking second only to Putz with a .500 average over the same stretch -- and improved her season batting average by 63 points -- from .250 to .313.
• Stephenson boasted a career high in hits with a 4-for-4 effort in the second series game against OSU, tying a program record with three doubles -- in each of her first three at-bats. She was the first Michigan player to post three doubles since Lauren Sweet in 2013. In 2024, Stephenson also became the first Wolverine player in 26 seasons to post two triples in a game.
