
Wolverines to Take Five-Series Win Streak to Maryland

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team (27-17, 12-9 Big Ten) returns to the road after two home weekends, traveling to Maryland (22-23, 6-15 Big Ten) for a three-game series beginning Friday (May 1) at 6 p.m. The series continues Saturday (May 2) at 2 p.m. and concludes Sunday (May 3) at 1 p.m. All three games will be played at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium and streamed on B1G+.
Notes
• The Wolverines sit sixth in the Big Ten Conference, having won their last five conference series, including a sweep of Northwestern and taking two of three from Washington. U-M earned walk-off wins on Friday (April 24) and Saturday (April 25) before falling 7-5 in the series finale.
• Colby Turner extended his hitting streak to 24 games with a single in the third inning on Sunday, the longest at Michigan since at least 2000. The streak ranks fourth among active Division I players and first in the Big Ten. Turner has also reached base in 30 straight games, third-longest at Michigan since 2000, with the record at 32.
• Turner owns a .399/.470/.659 slash line, with all three marks ranking among the top 10 in the Big Ten, including second in batting average. He ranks third in the conference in hits (69) and hits per game (1.60) and leads Michigan in runs (46), doubles (15), home runs (10) and RBIs (40).
• Kurt Barr has served as Michigan's Friday starter since the second weekend of conference play and holds a team-best 3.39 ERA. The senior threw a complete game with 10 strikeouts against Michigan State and has 73 strikeouts this season, moving into the top 10 in program history with 224 career strikeouts.
• Brayden Jefferis carries an 18-game hitting streak, the second-longest active streak in the Big Ten and seventh-longest at Michigan since 2000. He has recorded 31 hits during the streak, including three- and four-hit games against Washington.
• Shane Brinham has settled into the weekend rotation after a seven-inning complete-game shutout against Oregon. The freshman holds a 3.76 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 40.2 innings, with Michigan winning each of his last four starts.
• Joonsung Park has appeared in each of Michigan's last eight games, including six starts. He delivered a walk-off three-run double against Washington and added a game-tying double the following day. Park is hitting .296 with nine RBIs.
• David Lally Jr. earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors after a complete-game one-hitter against Northwestern (April 19). He has made four straight Sunday starts, allowing fewer than three earned runs in three of those outings and owns a 4.11 ERA with 40 strikeouts in 50.1 innings.
• Evan Haeger returned to the lineup last week and recorded a hit in each of the Wolverines' five games. He is hitting .299 with 24 runs, 35 hits and 22 RBIs.
• Gavin DeVooght has nine saves this season, ranking third in the Big Ten and tied for 10th nationally. His nine saves rank sixth in a single season at Michigan.
• Maryland enters with a 22-23 record and 6-15 Big Ten mark, tied for 14th in the conference. The Terrapins are coming off a series loss to Michigan State but picked up a midweek win at Georgetown.
• Michigan leads the all-time series, 24-14, including a 16-10 mark since Maryland joined the Big Ten. The Wolverines are 5-6 in College Park and last visited in 2022.
