
Green Earns Silver in 400m Hurdles, Maize and Blue Finish 12th at Big Ten Outdoor Championships

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Sidney Green earned a runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles Sunday (May 17) to lead the University of Michigan women's track and field team to a 12th-place finish at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships at the Nebraska Outdoor Track.
Oregon claimed the team title with 110 points, while Illinois (92) and USC (90) rounded out the top three.
Green captured silver for the second straight year in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing in 57.46 -- 1.25 seconds faster than her preliminary time.
Freshman Emmry Ross placed fourth in the 800-meter run finals, earning five points with a time of 2:04.80 in her Big Ten Outdoor Championships debut. In the 1,500-meter final, Penelopea Gordon finished 11th in 4:33.22.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Alyssa Bean, Amare Harlan, Keyanna O'Tey and Myla Wilkes scored three points with a sixth-place finish (44.45). The 4x400-meter relay also placed sixth and scored three points, as Bean, Green, Trinity Henderson and Payton Smith posted a 3:37.80.
Abigail Russell finished 10th in the discus throw with a mark of 53.89m (176-9), coming just 0.11 meters shy of advancing to the finals.
Brooke Johnston placed 25th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:14.17, while Jadyn Zdanavage finished 40th (18:32.36).
Michigan will continue postseason competition May 27-30 at the NCAA East First Round in Lexington, Ky. Selections will be announced Thursday (May 21) by the NCAA.
