
Tapper Earns USTFCCCA Regional Field Athlete of the Year Award

NEW ORLEANS -- Junior Elizabeth Tapper of the University of Michigan women's track and field team has been named the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year, it was announced Thursday (June 18).
Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches following the conclusion of the 2026 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Performances from both the NCAA Championships and the regular season were considered.
Tapper finished 13th at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships in the shot put with a mark of 15.81 meters (51 feet, 10.5 inches). The junior qualified for the NCAA East First Round and finished 12th (16.82m/55-2.25) to punch her ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the second straight year. She went on to finish seventh at the NCAAs with a season-best mark of 17.54m (57-6.5), improving on her 14th-place finish in 2025 and earning first team All-America honors.
