Former University of Michigan men's tennis great Evan King is in his second season on the sidelines as a volunteer assistant coach in 2015-16. He served as a volunteer assistant during the dual-match portion of the 2014-15 season.
King won the Edwardsville Futures event with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Clay Thompson in the championship match on Aug. 2. It was his second title of the summer after winning the Zimbabwe F1 Futures Tournament on Friday (June 19). He also appeared in the doubles championship of that tournament. He continues to pursue his professional tennis career while coaching at U-M.
King was a three-time ITA All-American and two-time Big Ten Athlete of the Year at U-M. He finished his Wolverine career with a 116-34 singles record and is Michigan's all-time leader in combined singles and doubles wins with 195. He finished his senior campaign with a 32-5 singles record, including a 23-1 mark in dual matches and a perfect 10-0 record in Big Ten play.
