Garrett Patton begins his second season as volunteer assistant coach for the Wolverines in 2020-21. He also serves as the head coach of the UMAISE Adaptive Tennis program.
He came to Michigan from Cal Poly, where he spent three seasons as associate head coach, being promoted from assistant coach in 2017. At Cal Poly, his teams reached three consecutive Big West Conference finals.
Prior to accepting the assistant coaching position at Cal Poly, Patton served as a USTA National Hitting Coach on Professional WTA Circuit and played Futures Professional Circuit in Croatia, New York, Cambodia, Romania, Holland and Macedonia.
Patton played his collegiate tennis at Boise State, where he was ranked as high as No. 15 in 2014. He led his team to four Mountain West Conference Team Championships and four NCAA Team Appearances.
As team captain, Patton compiled an overall singles record of 91-45 and was also named the Mountain West All Conference for singles and doubles and a four time Mountain West All Academic Team.
Patton graduated from Boise State in 2015 with a degree in communications.Â
