 Marcos Ugarte was added to the University of Michigan men's soccer staff as an assistant coach Jan. 31, 2022 by head coach Chaka Daley.

Ugarte is a former Michigan soccer player from 2013-14 and spent one season as the volunteer assistant coach from 2017-18. In his time as a volunteer coach with the Wolverines, U-M won the 2017 Big Ten Regular Season Championship and made a NCAA second round appearance.

Most recently, Ugarte spent the last three seasons coaching and playing in the USL Championship with Birmingham Legion FC. He was a First Team player while also being the Academy Director and head coach.
Following his collegiate playing career, Ugarte spent six seasons playing professionally and signed his first contract in 2015 with Rochester New York FC (formerly known as the Rochester Rhinos) in the USL Championship where he played two seasons and helped the team win the USL Cup in his rookie campaign. He also spent time with Ringkobing IF in Denmark’s Division 2.
