University of Michigan Hall of Honor

Harry Holiday
- Induction:
- 1981
The mainstay of Michigan's national swimming powerhouses during the 1940s, Harry Holiday won six NCAA titles during his brilliant career. A three-time letterman, Holiday began to shine in his sophomore season, 1943, when he captured the 150-yard backstroke crown in the national meet at Columbus, Ohio. After spending time in the military, Harry returned to swim for Coach Matt Mann in 1947 and claimed two more NCAA titles, the 150-yard backstroke and a leg of the 300-yard medley relay. In his senior season, Holiday was named captain of the Wolverines and led Michigan to the national championship in the NCAA meet held at Ann Arbor. Harry swam on the victorious 300-yard medley relay team and earned a spot on the All-America swimming team for the third time.
