Women's Soccer Shuts Down No. 16 Indiana

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Junior forward Amber Berendowsky (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS) tied the school record for career goals as the University of Michigan women's soccer team shut out No. 16 Indiana 2-0 at the Michigan Soccer Field. The victory, Michigan's first against a ranked opponent this year, evened the Wolverines' Big Ten Conference record at 3-3-1.
The Wolverines led 1-0 at the half as Kacy Beitel (Midland, Mich./H.H. Dow HS) chipped one past the Indiana keeper on a feed from Mari Hoff (Canton, Mich./Salem HS) at 14:42.
Berendowsky's goal, the 32nd of her career, came at 78:54 and tied her with Ruth Poulin (1994-97) for Michigan's career goals record. Carissa Stewart (Topsham, Maine/Mt. Ararat HS) made six saves and recorded her first shutout of the year.
Michigan continues Big Ten play at Illinois on Sunday (Oct. 11) at 1 p.m. CDT.
