Women's Soccer Wins at Butler to Stay Unbeaten

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team defeated Butler University 2-0 on Sunday (Sept. 6) to conclude its first road weekend of the 1998 season with a perfect 2-0 record.
Michigan drew first blood, scoring the only goal of the first half when Jessica Limauro (Troy, Mich./Troy HS) hit the back of the net at 37:30. Junior Amber Berendowsky (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS) opened up the second-half scoring when she converted at the 57-minute mark for her first goal of the season. Butler would add a goal three minutes later, but the Wolverines were able to hold off the late Bulldog charge to notch their second victory in as many games.
Senior keeper Jessica Jones (Northville, Mich./Northville HS) made four saves to pick up her first victory of the season.
Michigan opens the home portion of its schedule by hosting the Michigan Challenge Cup on Friday and Sunday (Sept. 11-13) at the U-M Soccer Field. Friday's action has Evansville playing Detroit at 2 p.m. and Michigan facing Massachusetts at 4 p.m.
