MADISON, Wis. -- Senior co-captain Jake Raiton (Portland, Ore./Wilson HS) finished as the runner-up in the Nos. 7-8 players bracket at the Big Ten Singles Championships, contested Saturday through Monday (Jan. 16-18) and hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
Raiton reached the finals by winning four straight matches but defaulted in the final to Minnesota's Thomas Haug.
In other action Monday, junior John Long (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron HS) as well as freshmen Henry Beam (Kalamazoo, Mich./Loy Norrix HS) and Danny McCain (Largo, Fla./Canterbury School HS) had their tournaments end in the third round of main draw consolations. All three players finished with 2-2 records.
Michigan will open the dual match season Thursday (Jan. 21) by hosting William & Mary. The match will be held at the Varsity Tennis Center beginning at 3 p.m.
