LAIE, Hawaii -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team concluded the preseason tournament portion of its schedule by competing at the North Shore Women's Tennis Classic (Jan. 16-18). In addition to the Wolverines, the four-team, round-robin tournament consisted of host Brigham Young-Hawaii, No. 18 Brigham Young and No. 38 Fresno State.

The Wolverines' best performance came from sophomore Alison Sinclair (Lakeland, Fla./George Jenkins HS), who posted a 2-1 record at the tournament's fourth and fifth singles flights. Sinclair defeated BYU-Hawaii's Maylani Ah Hoy at the fifth flight (7-6, 7-6) and collected a victory over Brigham Young's Jodi Richardson in the fourth flight (6-2, 6-1).

Also winning singles matches for the Wolverines were juniors Danielle Lund (Leominster, Mass./Leominster HS) and Brooke Hart (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson HS) and sophomore transfer Szandra Fuzesi (Budapest, Hungary/Balassi Balint Gimnazium).

Hart and Lund combined for the team's only doubles victory, defeating Dora Djilianova and Liesl Fichtbauer of Fresno State 8-5.

Michigan will host Western Michigan on Sunday, Jan. 24, in the dual match season opener. The match will be held at the Varsity Tennis Center beginning a 1 p.m.
