Michigan Rowers Capture Head of the Elk Team Title

ELKHART, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's rowing team competed in the Head of the Elk Regatta Sunday (Oct. 29) on the St. Joseph River. Four eights finished among the top six in the Women's Open 8 race to help the women team with the U-M men's club crew in winning the team title with 121 points. The women also had four novice boats in two races.
In the Open 8 race, Michigan took second through sixth. The top-finishing Wolverine boat crossed the line in 13:40.32, just over 12 seconds behind the fastest boat of the race, Notre Dame (13:27.7).
In the Women's Novice 8 A, Michigan claimed second with a time of 14:22.46. Purdue finished first with a time of 14:04.27. In the Women's Novice 8 B, the Wolverines recorded a time of 15:23.87 and also finished second to Purdue (15:19.64).
The Head of the Elk marks the end of the fall racing season for Michigan women's rowing.
