Sullivant Heads Quartet of U-M Soccer Buzz Honorees

Rounding out the Michigan honorees is freshman forward Stephanie Chavez(Shorewood, Wis./Shorewood HS), who was named to the Great Lakes Region All-Freshman Team.
A member of the 2000 All-Big Ten First Team, Sullivant played in all 22 games this season. She scored the first goal of the 2000 campaign for the Wolverines (Sept. 3) and notched two more goals on the season. Sullivant provided strong defense for the Wolverines, deflecting numerous shots. Her two-year career totals include three goals and two assists.
A co-captain of the 2000 team, Beitel became the Wolverines' career scoring leader, finishing with 114 points. During the 2000 season, Beitel accumulated numerous awards and honors, including a spot on the 2000 NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region First Team. She set a school record with eight points against Butler (Oct. 29) and became the first Wolverine to score three goals in a game twice in a career. A member of the 2000 All-Big Ten First Team and Big Ten All-Tournament team, Beitel led the Big Ten in assists (13) and led the Wolverines in goals (10, tie-5th in Big Ten), assists and points (33, 4th in Big Ten).
Crumpton was named to the Soccer Buzz Great Lakes All-Regional Third Team this year after earning second-team honors in 1999. Crumpton notched seven goals and accounted for six assists in the 21 games she played this season, bringing her career totals to 19 goals and 14 assists. A member of the 2000 All-Big Ten Second Team, Big Ten All-Tournament team and NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region Second Team, Crumpton scored two goals in two separate Michigan victories this season -- vs. Missouri on Sept. 10 and Butler on Oct. 29.
Playing in all 22 games this season, Chavez finished the season third on the team in scoring (8 goals, 6 assists, 22 points). Notching two goals in Michigan's NCAA Tournament first-round victory over Miami University (Nov. 8), Chavez became the fourth-highest-scoring freshman in Michigan history. Chavez scored the game-winning goals in all three of the Wolverines' double-overtime victories.
Sullivant, Beitel, Crumpton and Chavez were voted to the Soccer Buzz postseason award rosters by the NCAA Division I coaches and the Soccer Buzz staff. Michigan completed the 2000 season with a 13-9-1 record and a third-place finish in the Big Ten (6-3-1).
