Parrish, the All-Big Ten first team catcher, led the Wolverines in hitting with a .356 batting average in overall and he finished second in the Big Ten batting race with .415 conference only average. Parrish led the Wolverines in homers (11), RBI (41), total bases (102), slugging percentage (.621), on-base percentage (.432), sacrifice flies (5) and putouts (228).
Parrish is the seventh Wolverine selected in the first round in the regular phase of the June draft, and the first since Jim Abbott by the California Angels in 1988.
Parrish is the son of Lance Parrish, a 19-year Major Leaguer, who was the first-round pick of the Detroit Tigers in June of 1974.
