PRINCETON, N.J. -- The University of Michigan women's water polo team continued its winning ways on Saturday (Feb. 10) as the Wolverines defeated Massachusetts, 8-3, and Hartwick, 11-4, at the Princeton Invitational.
Seven different members scored in the Wolverines' win over Massachusetts. The Minutewomen got on the board first, but Michigan quickly answered with a goal from Emily Pelino (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron HS). Stephanie Morse (Rockford, Mich./Rockford HS) gathered in two goals for the Wolverines, who held the Minutewomen without a goal for 13 minutes of playing time.
After a scoreless second period for both teams, Michigan and Massachusetts each found the net once in the third. The Wolverines put the game away during the fourth period, scoring five goals.
Details on the Hartwick game will be added as soon as they are available.
The Wolverines will conclude action at the Princeton Invitational on Sunday (Feb. 11), facing Hawaii at 10 a.m. and host Princeton at 2 p.m. at DeNunzio Pool.
