Kollen's 9-for-18 (.500) performance made her an NCAA Region 4 all-tournament selection and moved her batting average up to a season-best .394 heading into the WCWS. Leadoff hitter Kollen and No. 2 hitter Taylor have combined to scored one-third of the Wolverines' runs this season and are the team leaders in hits, with 80 and 83, respectively.
Kollen and Taylor were also named to the NFCA Great Lakes All-Region first team where they were joined by senior shortstop Rebecca Tune (Aloha, Ore./Jesuit HS), a second-team selection. Tune is hitting .328 in her senior campaign with a team-leading 15 doubles entering WCWS action. Tune, who hit .400 (6-15) and was perfect in the field at the NCAA Region 4 Championship, has also fielded at a .963 rate for the season, with a team-best 125 assists.
The Wolverines open up WCWS play tomorrow (Thursday, May 24, 12:30 p.m. CDT) vs. defending national champion Oklahoma at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla. The game will be televised live on ESPN2.
