Provisional Marks Lead U-M at Stanford Invitational

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field had three athletes compete at Cardinal Invitational late Friday night (May 4) on Stanford's Cobb Track. All three tracksters finished in the top 10 of their respective events, adding two NCAA provisional times in the process.
Junior Katie Jazwinski (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Catholic HS) and senior Lisa Ouellet (Sudbury, Ontario/LaSalle SS) finished seventh and 10th, respectively, in the 1,500-meter run. Jazwinski's NCAA provisional time of 4:20.72 was the fourth fastest collegiate time in the event. Jazwinski had provisionally qualified earlier in the season with her personal-best time of 4:20.22 at the Duke Invitational (April 7). Ouellet, who also qualified provisionally with a personal-best time of 4:22.88, had the sixth fastest collegiate time in the 1,500.
The night began for the Wolverines in the 800-meter run with sophomore Rachel Sturtz (Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City HS) running to a time of 2:09.55, placing her in 10th place in the race.
The Wolverines will be in action tomorrow (Saturday, May 5) at the Toledo Invitational in Toledo, Ohio.
