ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan first-year head baseball coach Rich Maloney has announced plans for a pair of winter baseball camps to close out 2002.
The first camp is Thanksgiving weekend, running Friday through Sunday, Nov. 29-Dec. 1, and the second camp closes out the year, running Sunday through Tuesday, Dec. 29-31. The camps will be held in Oosterbaan Fieldhouse, the indoor football practice facility which features excellent facilities for complete baseball skill performance and improvement.
Maloney, who has a national reputation for developing players, will direct the camp along with Wolverine coaching staff members John Lowery, Jason Murray and Scott Mallernee. Outstanding high school coaches will also serve as instructors.
The Thanksgiving weekend camp will offer a new feature with a parent/son format for players from ages 6-12 in which a parent can participate in the instruction during the one-day camp (Friday, Nov. 29).
There will be a comprehensive camp for ages 6-12 on Tuesday, Dec. 31 (ending at 4:30 p.m.) to give young players a solid foundation of the fundamentals of playing baseball.
The rest of the camps will include instructions for players ranging from age 8 to 2003 high school graduates.
